Miss Ella Lauren Ford

Yesterday was a bit special in that Judy and I dashed off to Cambridge to say hello to our third and latest granddaughter Ella Lauren born on Monday 26th of October it was a long trip at just under 500 miles there and back to Cumbria . Grandma soon got back into the swing of nursing even if I was a bit rusty at it. Our stay seemed all to short but it was well worth it just to see Abi, Ian and Ella and we are planning to get back for a few days early next month.

Even when we were miles from home there is always something that reminds you of home and when we caught up behind one of Eddies Lorry's I was reminded of Uniteds main shirt sponsor and it must be a sign that our Ella must be their youngest fan. I wonder if they do baby grows in united team kit, lets hope so.

Grinding on

Last year it seemed to take forever to clear all the fallen leaves but this year it should prove to be a bit easier as I got the chance to fell a couple of large trees that were getting on a bit and last wednesday i had a local contractor in to get the the stumps ground out, it was pretty tough going as they were well secured in the ground and tangled up with a lot of rock and stone but it just steadily munched it all up and now all i need to do is back fill with some rough fill and cover with top soil and leave it to settle over winter ready for reseeding come spring. Should make it easier to make a tidy job of mowing the front lawn in 2010.

United V Morcambe

It's that time of year again first round of the FA Cup and United have got a great draw at home to Morcambe who are the nearest league club in the draw (Newcastle is nearer but we will deal with them in the third round ) so it should draw a good crowd, especially now we have hit a bit of good form after a slightly iffy start ( a bit like Liverpool ) with a handy win over Southend on Saturday when our new signing Vincent Pericard ex Portsmouth and Stoke grabbing his first goal let hope it's the first of many.

Next years Leeks

It might not look much just at the moment but with a bit of luck they could turn out to be next years winners. This is a head of the new Improved Pendle leek grass that I was given early this week by our top local leek grower Jim Robinson of Endmoor, just shows how generous some exhibitors can be that they are happy to share their stock with the very people that are trying to beat them , now the tricky bit is I don't really know what to do next I have been given a lot of good advice and looked it up on Medwyns pages on the NVS website so i know the theory but! anyway I will probably have ago this weekend at potting them on fortunately i only need about 20/30 plants to grow and just looking at the amount on the head there must be well over 100 potential plants.
